photoblog image Not Bovvered!

Not Bovvered!

This crow was trying it's hardest to look fierce to scare away the buzzard; in it's attempt to do this it seemed to morph into quite a bizarre looking bird!

He's trying to look bigger & fiercer than he normally is from the look of it Sally. Mr Buzzard is not to be intimidated..
Sally Howard: I think he's putting on a brave face Chris! It's incredible how they do this.
nicely frozen action. you have some range on your lens. smile
Sally Howard: Thank you Ayush, they weren't too far away as I was sitting in a bird hide.

Great capture Sally! The crows are quite brave, especially in flocks!
Sally Howard: You're quite right Martin, there were 3 of them threatening him.

He is trying to make himself look bigger. Mr. Buzzard doesn't give a damn. Fabulous capture.
Sally Howard: Thank you Mary, it's clever how they do this isn't it.
This is a wonderful series, Sally that I have so enjoyed. We often see the crows mobbing buzzards over our garden. They are amazingly brave to do so. Great photos.
Sally Howard: I really pleased that you like this series Pauline, I really enjoyed taking them.

Crows have some funny habits. Recently I have read how they can have a negative impact on the presence of birds of prey, because of their continuous pestering. Stealing food in the air, harassing other birds when feeding, etc.
Sally Howard: That's really interesting Louis and it makes sense. They are tenacious birds and usually get what they want!!

What a wonderful action photo -oh,I'm sympathizing with the crow in this dangerous situation.
Sally Howard: He was certainly brave Philine, and thank you.
Trying to remind the buzzard that the devil is a good friend smile

A likey for me.
Sally Howard: How nice of you Richard, that's very much appreciated.
Absolutely strange! I'm with Jennie on this one!
Sally Howard: Yes Jennie made a wonderful comment, It is a great film but when I sat with my children to watch it when they were in there late teens, they couldn't see why I was jumpy!!
He's really trying hard isn't he, and the buzzard isn't at all worried. Great shot Sally
Sally Howard: He certainly couldn't try harder Janet, than you.

What a brilliant action shot of the crow. I would crop all the distraction from around it and enlarge as much as possible.
Sally Howard: I have just tried to bring it in further Richard, and of course you're right!! Thank you.
The buzzard seems not to be very impressed. Good picture.
Sally Howard: I think he's pretending not to see the crow! smile Many thanks.
>> Right out of a scary film shot. Very unusual bird pose.
Sally Howard: I've never noticed just how much they do this before Jacquelyn.
